Thread of Life

3D technologies like AR and VR have recently proven to increase customer engagement and acquisition in the fashion industry. However, fashion brands/designers need to possess or access the necessary 3D modeling skills to create the asset they need to take advantage of this trend. This lowers the barrier to entry for most fashion brands in emerging markets, having them being left behind. Our team thinks we can solve this problem for them by offering a simple tool that automates the creation of 3D assets. We created a simple prototype using ReactJs and Dreamfusion that allows users to upload images of the clothes. The image is analyzed and the clothes detected are cropped out. We use magic123 which creates probabilistic images of the clothing from different camera views and uses them to generate the 3D model in gLTF format. The model is then presented back to the user in the app. We plan to add an Augmented Reality view of the 3D models and a way for users to embed these views in their online digital properties.

Static images and written descriptions can only go so far in conveying the dynamic and vibrant reality of historical settings. As a result, people often find it challenging to connect with and understand history on a deeper level. Solution: TimeWarp Explorer addresses these challenges by offering a revolutionary solution: an app that enables users to input specific historical dates and locations and generates AI-driven 3D reconstructions of those places during the chosen time period. This app opens up an interactive portal to the past, allowing users to immerse themselves in historical environments and gain an enriched understanding of various historical eras.

                                Aiming to streamline the creation of 3D mesh (.obj) files from a given picture - we first use a object detection model (yolo-v8) to extract each bounding box(region of interests). Then we remove background from each bounding box by using rembg library . Lastly we create a 3d model from the images produced using the shap-e library . This project can be used by artists / game developers to easily recreate 3d mesh of any object they have seen in a picture . Currently , command line app has been created . I plan to deploy a flask app with a Vue.js frontend in the future . Libraries used in the project - shap-e , ultralytics (yolo-v8) and rembg (background removal)

                                Smart Decisions with AI and VR

                                It's been known for a while that when people discuss important decisions, using visual aids and physical props, it tangibly enhances the team's creativity and ability to focus on the most significant aspects of the decision at hand. Conducting this exercise in a fun, unfamiliar environment makes the whole process even more conducive to creative, out-of-the-box thinking. This idea is behind the setup of many design-thinking and ideation rooms across the world. This 3D-AI hackathon gave us the opportunity to explore the idea further. Our team came up with a concrete business scenario, and an ideal workflow to support it. Although our final implementation fell a bit short of this grand vision, the exercise allowed us to (1) get a deeper understanding of the value of generative ai for purpose-driven decision making (2) get an appreciation of where the tech is today and how it is evolving to effectively support that process and (3) learn a lot, laugh a a bunch, and really come together as a team. In the end we were 13 people from 4 continents and 6 countries, who for the most had never met nor worked together at the beginning of the challenge.
